1. What this site is. W5ZQ.org provides amateur-radio call-sign lookup, license history, historical callbook records and vanity call-sign predictions, compiled by W5ZQ for the amateur-radio community. It is a personal, non-commercial site.
2. Sources. License and application data comes from the Federal Communications Commission's public files and is in the public domain. Pre-ULS license records are provided courtesy of AE7Q and are used with permission. Historical call-sign records were transcribed by W5ZQ from the Wireless Blue Books (1909–1911), the U.S. Department of Commerce lists of amateur radio stations (1913–1931) and the Radio Amateur Callbook editions, then processed, transcribed, corrected, linked, and organized by W5ZQ. Each record shows its source; hover a tag for the editions and any corrected readings.
3. What is protected. The site's design, text, code, and the compiled, corrected and linked data are the work of W5ZQ and are protected by copyright. The underlying facts (that a given call sign was held by a given person in a given year) are not claimed; what is claimed is W5ZQ's compilation: the selection, correction, linking and arrangement of those facts as presented here. AE7Q's records remain the work of AE7Q.
4. What you may do. You may use the site to look up call signs and histories; link to any page; quote individual records or short passages with attribution to W5ZQ.org (and to AE7Q where his records are shown); and print or save pages for personal, non-commercial use.
5. What you may not do without written permission. You may not copy the site's tables or data in bulk; scrape, crawl or query the site or its API to build a copy of the data; republish, sell, license or distribute the compiled data or any substantial part of it; remove or alter source tags, attributions or the copyright notice; or present the data as your own or as an official FCC product.
6. Accuracy. The historical records were read from scanned print and corrected where consistent records could be correlated. They are offered as a research aid, not as an official record. FCC data is reproduced as published by the FCC and may lag the FCC's own files. Vanity predictions are estimates from public application data and are not assurances of any outcome. No warranty is given, and W5ZQ is not liable for any use of the information.
7. Corrections. If a record about you is wrong, or a source is not properly credited, use the CONTACT tab and it will be researched, then validated or corrected.
8. Changes. These terms may be updated as needed; the date below shows the current revision.
