Design of this project began back in 2021 when I applied for my first vanity short call-sign and failed. The AE7Q site was very useful, but my understanding of the FCC system was lacking and I felt more real-time prediction capabilities were needed. With my retirement from professional life and a lifetime love of Amateur Radio, I decided to apply my professional systems experience to the task. The resulting BETA prediction system framework developed at the time, has been continually refined into what exists today. It was utilized to obtain my first short call-sign, W5ZQ, in September 2026, so I decided to make it available to all Hams applying for a short call-sign.
